Renovation 3-room apartment 65m²
Voilà un projet que l’on pourrait qualifier de délicat et atypique. De quoi s’agit-il ? C’est un appartement d’une superficie de 65 m² environ. Comment vous le décrire ? Une curiosité ? Incontestablement. C’est que son ancien occupant, un architecte doté d’un talent certain, l’avait aménagé à l’image de ce qui était sûrement ses obsessions et de sa petite taille. Des aménagements amovibles suspendus à un plafond laqué marron, qui n’était pas bien haut. Des portes coulissantes partout, un couloir étriqué. Un aménagement de type grenier au dessus d’un lit. Des séparations en bois…
Alors, il faut avouer qu’on a petit pincement au cœur lorsqu’il faut constater que ce dispositif n’est plus approprié aux usages contemporains des nouveaux occupants. Il nous fallait retrouver de la clarté, de l’espace, de la lumière. La démolition a été conséquente sans pour autant toucher aux éléments porteurs de la structure.
Il s’agissait là d’un pied à terre pour nos clients. Nous avons réunifié deux petites chambres qui étaient bien encombrées. A celle ci, nous avons attribué une salle de bain confortable avec douche à l’italienne et plan vasque en marbre Arabescato. La faïence qui recouvre ses murs apporte une grande clarté. Elle est attenante à une seconde pièce d’eau plus réduite destinée aux visiteurs et parents de passage. Un grès cérame imitant le bois a été posé au sol tout en remontant sur les largeurs. La cloison qui sépare ces deux pièces d’eau est épaisse, de manière à disposer d’un vide sanitaire bien utile (passage de réseaux, niches, encastrement de robinetterie, bâtis support de sanitaires, profondeur de lave linge…).
L’espace séjour / cuisine a lui aussi été repensé. L’îlot s’est déplacé afin d’être attenant à une canalisation nécessaire et se passer d’une estrade. Ce conduit a été pris dans un placard servant de penderie en entrée. Ce déplacement nous a également permis de libérer une surface disponible pour une table et ses chaises. Les crédences en miroir viennent troubler la perception de l’espace et l’agrandir. Le mobilier (canapé, fauteuil), d’inspiration moderne apporte une rigueur qui est contrebalancée par les formes courbes des tables basses.
La cheminée en inox a été conservée et complétée par un aménagement accueillant le poste tv et équipements auxiliaires. Des luminaires industriels en applique seront un clin d’œil au matériau employé dans cette cheminée, ainsi que les structures, piètements du mobilier sélectionné.
Here is a project that could be described as both delicate and atypical. What does it involve? An apartment of approximately 65 m². How to describe it? A curiosity? Undoubtedly. Its former occupant, an architect of considerable talent, had designed it in the image of what were surely his obsessions and his small stature. Removable fittings suspended from a low, brown lacquered ceiling. Sliding doors everywhere, a narrow corridor. A loft-style arrangement above a bed. Wooden partitions…
One must admit to feeling a slight pang when acknowledging that this arrangement is no longer suited to the contemporary lifestyle of the new occupants. We needed to restore clarity, space and light. The demolition was substantial, yet without touching the structural load-bearing elements.
This was a pied-à-terre for our clients. We merged two small bedrooms that had been rather cluttered. To this new space we assigned a comfortable bathroom with a walk-in shower and an Arabescato marble vanity top. The tiling covering its walls brings great brightness. It adjoins a second, smaller shower room intended for guests and visiting family. A wood-effect porcelain stoneware was laid on the floor, continuing up along the widths. The partition separating these two wet rooms is thick, so as to accommodate a useful service void (pipework, niches, recessed fittings, sanitary support frames, washing machine depth…).
The living room / kitchen was also rethought. The island was relocated to adjoin a necessary pipe run, eliminating the need for a raised platform. This duct was concealed within a wardrobe serving as a coat cupboard in the entrance. This repositioning also freed up space for a table and chairs. Mirrored splashbacks play with the perception of space and visually enlarge it. The furniture (sofa, armchair), of modern inspiration, brings a sense of rigour balanced by the curved forms of the coffee tables.
The stainless steel fireplace was retained and complemented with a unit housing the TV and auxiliary equipment. Industrial wall-mounted light fittings serve as a nod to the material used in this fireplace, as do the structures and legs of the selected furniture.
